Volunteering

The Robert Louis Stevenson Silverado Museum in St. Helena relies on the generosity of their volunteers to welcome visitors and conduct exhibit tours.

The Museum asks only that you commit to a minimum of four (4) hours pr month after participating in a 1 hour Volunteer Training Session.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the conducting of tours and/or assist with the care and maintenance of the repository's collections under the guidance of the Curator. They are asked to be available to conduct an average of two to four guided exhibit tours per month. Each tour may last from 20-40 minutes dependant upon the level of interest expressed by the visitors.

In addition, the Museum has a Trunk Show that is designed to take Stevenson out into the classroom and/or to Elder Care Facilities around the Valley both of which provide an introduction to the life and times of the Scottish author.

It is through the assistance of volunteers that the Stevenson Museum can be developed and improved. In turn, your participation will provide an educational experience as well as fulfill a service to the community at large.

Volunteers are provided a 10% discount on Stevenson books for sale and are invited to an annual recognition luncheon at the end of each year.
