Permanent exhibition

The Life of Robert Louis Stevenson

On permanent display in the main gallery, visitors are able to follow and explore the Story of Robert Louis Stevenson.

Beginning with how the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum came to be, the exhibition guides visitors through the 44 years of Stevenson’s life and his lasting influence on literature, entertainment, and life today.

Featuring treasures from the Stevenson family, the exhibition includes a unique chance to see Stevenson’s toy soldiers, family artwork and photographs, family furniture, and original manuscript pages from some of the author’s most famous works. Be sure to also ask about the innocuous “snuff box” on display and it’s plot-enhancing impact on one of literature’s most famous stories!
